La Jolla, also called “the Jewel By the Sea” is arguably the most desirable and prestigious neighborhood in San Diego County – famed throughout the world! The Children's Pool has also had some notoriety with it's resident seal population. The town is home to the University
of California, San Diego, the Salk Institute, and Scripps institute of
Oceanography. Other medical research and bioengineering facilities are
strategically placed near the University, allowing many residents a
short commute to work. 
Public schools have a reputation of
ranging into the 80th to 90th percentile for
statewide scores and private learning is offered in abundance. In 2002
La Jolla High School was granted permission to run the school program as
the faculty saw fit. A large bond from San Diego residents will renovate
and improve all San Diego schools, including La Jolla.
Because
of the university’s facilities and the many educated residents who are
privy to world affairs and intellectualism, the arts community thrives
and clubs meet regularly. Facilities and events include a sports
complex / concert hall at UCSD, Concerts in the park, the La Jolla
Festival of Arts, two golf courses, about 10 parks, a library, one of
the countries only
computer labs, and the La Jolla Playhouse, founded with the help of the
late Gregory Peck. This town boasts a sense of society, with class and
money to boot.
